another music related rants
so.. about a week ago, I was bored so decided to browse through myspace and listen to local bands. yes! support your local music!
(to those who called me "anak brunei"- you guys know who you are! I know what you're thinking, Nie cha is back to her 'support brunei' speech. haha)
a friend actually suggested me to review on local bands. Not sure that was a good idea. especially the fact that I'm new in this whole metal genre, and my knowledge in music is almost zero/nada/zilch. hehe.
here are things that I noticed
- some songs are rather rushed. its okay to take 1 whole year to write a song. LOL. it's the quality that matters.
- yes, guitar masturbation(yes, my favourite term), is so godlike. I mean, if you don't do guitar solo, people would start labelling you under nu metal craps right? but still, don't force it! we need passion, emotion and feels.
- disjointed music. what the bloody heck is that? it was like, the vocal line doesn't fit with the music, then they just put the 5 seconds solo wherever they want.
- if you wanna scream, scream like you mean it, not because someone sit on your stomach. if you wanna growl, growl like the badass you are. if you wanna sing, sing with emotions, not just reading the texts off the paper. if you wanna do pig squeals, well, just don't! (sorry kiim)
and, to those who don't get my post. I wasn't saying that local music sucks. some songs are actually godlike. okay, that was exaggerating. haha. inda salah menagur kan? to improve oneself. I'm all in supporting local products. I watch local programs! ganap dua anyone? hehe.
other than that.. hmmm.. keep the music alive?! or, was it suppose to be keep the local music scene alive? man. I am so bad at this.whatever laaaaah.
Move on to not local music scene..
Trivium new album Shogun.
am I looking forward to it? yes and no. I heard a few tracks, and I think it was okay. I still have problem with Heafy's screaming. I don't mind his emo singing. it sounds better than him screaming actually. Hoping that their music is gonna sound like Ascendancy. It's not that I hate Crusade or Ember. I actually like Detonation from Crusade - whats with the music change and bla bla.
recently got my hands on Metallica's Death Magnetic. my thoughts? not a metallica fan. so, not gonna go there. haven't really listen to it thoroughly.
I wanna get my hands on Amon Amarth's Twilight of the thunder god. and.. eurgh.. Therion's dvd.. and erm.. Tiamat's last album.. then I'm gonna do a post for reviewing CD only. yayness.
