Confuse?!

Well, I am. I remembered few months back, switching on the TV, MTV was on and there was this way below mediocre band on the screen. It was some sort of concert, festival or something. Definitely a live show. The thing is, I couldn't stop laughing seeing these guys... why?! Oh, and the band is called Tokio Hotel or something. huhu

Then...

Need I say more?!

From 'Halloween' to 'Camelot'

Yayness! Before bashing my post and all that, I need to remind you that this is 'MY OPINION'. If you think my opinion is not valid, I don't care. This is my perspective. This is my blog. If you want to express your opinion, do so on the comments, without being so rude. huhu.

Recently I got my hands on 2 "Not new" DVD. Thanks to "Misfits" for selling these DVD in Brunei. haha. I couldn't find these DVD anywhere else in Brunei. Move on!

Helloween - Keeper of The Seven Keys - The Legacy.
World Tour 2005/2006. Live on 3 Continents.

This band has its ups and down, and its a known fact that the 2 keepers CD are the pinnacle of their career. There'll always be people who hates this dvd and keep on comparing Andi Deris to Michael Kiske. Those who refused to move on and face the fact that apart from Avantasia, Michael Kiske is strictly againts metal these days, would whine and just couldn't accept Andi. As for me, I'm not exactly fan of Michael Kiske. Yes, his voice is so fucken' good. Then again, it's friggin' power metal, the genre is filled with way over the top vocalist. Worse, some actually sound alike. Those who welcomes these changes, would definitely love this DVD. Where do I stand? I have no idea. I am not a huge fan.

The menu is so corny and lacklustered. I hate the back/home buttons. Who designed this dvd anyway? A recently graduated kid? Seriously, the buttons are so simple and not impressive at all. It looks like something I've done in my IDP assignment! The quality?! Less impressive. But, I've seen worse. But all these flaws were somewhat saved by the 'pumpkins'. I love all those jack-o-lanterns. So cute. Especially the one with the horns and the one with guitar. Oh, the angelic pumpkin with halo and all that is friggin' awesome too. I want those pumpkins. Put it in my room or something.

Now into the performances. Oh wow. It blew me away. I love the fact that they have alternative videos, although it look the same, only with different atmosphere. It was also cleverly done, by clicking on the pumpkin icon, and the video would change. Well, technically, the performace is taken from Sao Paulo. The alternate videos are taken from their performances in Sofia and Tokyo. I was ecstatic as they put my favourite song - Keeper of the seven keys, in two versions. I know we all couldn't help but comparing Andi Deris' singing to Michael Kiske's. I still think he did a rather good job. I still love the song. The song is lengthy, and it's a known fact that I'm not exactly into lengthy songs and guitar masturbation. But this song worked just fine. Its lenghty without being boring - with the music keep on changing cleverly and no repetition. Songs like Dr Stein, I want out, Mrs God and Eagle Fly Free surely were the crowd favourite. We could hear fans singing along. I like the drum and guitar solo bits. What with the dueling and all that. It was funny and entertaining. The band delivered a solid performance. One hell of a show.
Oh, and being a girl that I am, I have to say that I don't like their appearances that much. The studded leather jacket is so damned corny and need to go! Haha. It was so 80s.

The road movie was cool. We get the chance to see the band's antics. May not be that crazy, but still it was fun to watch. The interview was... okay. Make sure to have the subtitle on as they conversed entirely in German. *sighs*. Hence making the interview less interesting and less witty. The added videos? well. I like Mrs God, but I'm not exactly fond of Light The Universe. I think the song lack emotions. Andi Deris should not do ballads!

Apart from the minor down from the design and video quality, the rest was awesome. Is it Worth buying? Hell Yes!

Kamelot - One Cold Winter's Night

This band just keep on going stronger with each album. Outside the Power Metal world, the band is a bit underrated. To those who never heard of Kamelot, what could you expect from the band? A virtuoso on their own who knows when to limit themselves (Unlike other Power Metal vocalist, Roy Khan knows how to use his range intelligently, although we all know he could hit the highest note, and Thomas Youngblood does not indulge himself in 20 minutes guitar solo - Thank god!), highly melodic music with intensity and emotions, cleverly written lyrics (no dragon slaying themes whatsoever) and of course a solid live performance. After the highly successful 2-part conecept albums, the band released their first DVD, recorded in Oslo, Norway.

I didn't get the Bonus Section. So I am only going to talk about the concert section. The design was beautifully crafted. The videos are over the top. It gets rather annoying at times. I like my concert DVD not to be altered, you know, whats with the black and white video and the dizzying spiralling thing. Somehow kind of making it more of a music video from MTV! Long gone the concert feels it promised.

On to the show. No words could describe it. From the beginning, Un Assassinio Molto Silenzio Until Curtain Call, Kamelot brought us into the ride of our life (Okay, I sound lame here). The band stormed in doing The Black Halo and Soul Society, both were highly energetic to keep the crowds pumping. The performance were laden with emotions and sheer intensity and maybe a little madness. Songs like Centre of The Universe, Elizabeth and Abandoned actually sounded better live than their studio versions. For a band to be able to achieved that is really something else. I love the theatric touch in Elizabeth, it brought the song to life. March of Mephisto is somewhat predictible, with the setup we have seen from the video music. That guy from Dimmu Borgir was replaced by Snawy Shaw - minus the vocal. The crowd was awesome, although the venue is not that big. The atmosphere is still unbelievable. I love the fact that Khan's voice does not sound exactly the same as in their studio CDs and alter some of the song. Nights of Arabia is a bit corny, but I still like it. One of the letdown is that Khan seem to interact in his mothertongue more, well, it might works as they're filming the dvd in Oslo. But, this is for the DVD. At times, I was like "what the fuck did he just say?".

My favourite? I can't really say. But I definitely love Center of The Universe, Abandoned, Elizabeth, Moonlight and Karma. I just wish it could be longer with more songs, like Memento Mori and Wander maybe.

I really love this dvd. Definitely the best concert DVD I have seen so far. I would like to see other dvd top this.

Uh oh. I am still listening to Avantasia. I might talk about it once I'm through evaluating each songs.

...In My Head...

I wanted to talk about songs that I just can't get it out of my head. How do I know I can't get these songs out of my head? simple. I play the song on my computer, in my car, and in my phone/walkman. Basically, I play the songs all the time.

Mental Note : Italic/Bold fonts are my favourite lines from the song

Kamelot - EdenEcho (5 stars out of 5 stars)

[I love this song so damned much. Everything about this song is just beautiful-the music, the lyric, the vocal. The raw emotions from this song is just so... *speechless*.Perfect and perfect. I wonder how this song is going to sound live. Especially knowing that Kamelot is one band that their live performances are usually better than their studio versions *hint*Abandoned*hint*]

First you said that you would never leave me
Merry were my days
Then you told me life is never easy
And left without a trace

But how come I want you
Like the soil yearns for the rain

Won't you light up
Won't you light up my life
Let my soul breathe
Tell me wrong tell me right
You're my mind cage
Like a mountain far away
You were always there
Dressed in summer white

You will never know how much I miss you
Or open to my fear
Find a maze I make my way through
and enter if you dare

How come I want you
Like the soil yearns for the rain

Won't you light up
Won't you light up my life
Let my soul breathe
Tell me wrong tell me right
You're my mind cage
Like a mountain far away
You were always there
Dressed in summer white

Remember my name
And paint the darkness with your light
Go sing your song for all the broken hearted
Like Eden echoes in my head
The unforgiven gave you all

Won't you light up
Won't you light up my life
Let my soul breathe
Tell me wrong tell me right
You're my mind cage
Like a mountain far away
You were always there
Dressed in summer white

Helloween - Final Fortune (5 stars out of 5 stars)

[I like this song. I especially love the bass line on 0:29-0:34. Go listen and don't bother asking me why, I have no idea myself. I just like that bits. I'm not saying the rest of the song is not good though. It is good, or else it wouldn't get 5 stars. I also love the line "Forever giving answers to the blind". So deep and so true. I also like the vocal, it blends well with the music. One thing about Andi Deris is that I prefered him doing songs like this rather than song like Light the Universe.]

We try to force our final fortune
As if we knew the final score
And we pretend to know things better
In our madness we ignore
How small we are
We are

Far above this ignorance
A higher force you'll find
Forever giving answers to the blind

When fate comes calling you
You don't know what to do
Behind the world we're living in
Is so much more than we do know
There's ONE who loves you so
Behind the world we're living in
There's so much more than we will ever get to know

Protecting nations, wealth and soldiers
Collecting fame and victory
Inventing star-ships, tanks and rockets
But still we don't know how to see
The love in our hearts
Our hearts

Far from all this ignorance
A higher force would share
Verity and hope
But we don't care

When fate comes calling you
You don't know what to do
Behind the world we're living in
Is so much more than we do know
There's ONE who loves you so
Behind the world we're living in
There's so much more than we will ever get to know

Symphony X - The Sacrifice (5 stars out of 5 stars)

[I believe that this song could still be beautiful even without music. Imagine just vocal doing this song. Oh wow. The thing is that, the vocal alone could do this song justice. It is so beautiful, with strong vocal. The vocal is a bit raw and harsh, and I love it, making the song more fragile(if that's even remotely possible). The emotions in this song is something else. words could not do it justice.]

Your eyes, singing to me sweet lullabies
while you lay there in submission
forbidden desire
alone in the moonlight hearts afire-
burn away our inhibitions

when the stars lose their fire
and night steals the morning away
Forever and a day
I will stay - I will stay
here with you my love

Sacrifice, a heartbeat away from paradise
all my reason's giving way to temptation
fear and shame - looking for someone else to blame
we're devoured by these fruitless accusations

with every fleeting breath I take
Maybe our love was a mistake
Eternal life - I'd trade it for
One moment beside you...

when the stars lose their fire
and night steals the morning away
Forever and a day
I will stay - I will stay
here with you my love

when the stars lose their fire
and night steals the morning away
Forever and a day
when the stars lose their fire
and night takes the morning away
Forever and a day
I will stay - I will stay
here with you my love

Wow. I highly recommend all 3 songs. I just can't get these songs out of my head.

About 666...

[Listening to Avantasia - The Scarecrow album]

I don't consider myself a metalheads. I am more of a music lover, who is more inclined towards Metal. My first discovery of guitar music is in the form of Greenday - Basket Case, Bon Jovi - Always, Gun N Roses - November Rain, and Nirvana - About a Girl. The year was 1994, and I was an awkward 10 years old. Of course before that, I listened to lots of pop music, courtesy of my 2 elder sisters. I owe pop music a lot. It is through this genre that I have come to love music, and although my preferences have changed over the years, there are still some songs that I still dig.

Why the hell am I talking about this? One afternoon, my friend and I went browsing - window shopping. One store played Rick Price's Heaven Knows, an old ballad song which I haven't heard for ages. I remember my sister playing the songs, and I would listen to it. My friend and I started reminiscing all those late 80s and early 90s songs that we dig. It was hillarious. I may have despised the state of pop culture these days, back then, pop has created some timeless tune.

At first, I was skeptical towards Metal. Seriously, my only taste of Metal was Metallica, which I have never fond of. I thought all metal sounds like that. Then again, when you are 12, and spend most of your time in an all-girls hostel, with no access of the music industry and whatnot, there's nothing you can do. I listened to rock music, in the form of Greenday(I kinda get bored now, anyone interested in buying some original cds?), Manic Street Preachers, Streophonics, Terrorvision, Third Eye Blind... When you're in an all girl school, its impossible not to get involved in the whole boy bands crazed. shameful as it, I was one of those teeny boppers! haha.

When I was 16, I changed school, and discovered the outside world (I am exaggerating!). Here I started watching MTV and listening to Nu-metal in the form of (Don't laugh!) Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park (anyone interested in getting original CDs for both bands? haha), Crazy Town, Adema, Dry Cell, Disturbed and Project Wyze. By The time I was 19, I started listening to Punk Rock (Oh yes, believe me), which is short lived! I get bored with it. During the crazed of another nu metal band, Evanescence, I started looking for female fronted metal bands. I discovered a genre, which best described who I am - a mixture of gothic metal and doom death, in the form of (early)Theatre of Tragedy, (early)The Gathering and Tristania. Hence the beginning of my Metal Journey.

See, I am no metalheads. I am just learning. Still in my way of discovering many great bands. I am grateful for the Internet, for providing me informations, and people who keep on recommending albums and bands. As of now, I have discovered many bands. Almost 8GB of metal songs from every metal sub-genre, and still in the process of adding up my collections. I still listen to rock every now and then. I have David Bowie, Manic Street Preachers, The Cure and Stereophonics to entertain me.

Why am I posting this? I get tired of all those scene kids... really I do. Metal has no law. There is no rule, in which it says, you have to dress like this and that, to be metal. Fine, I am a newbie, in this whole metal stuffs, but I definitely know my stuffs, and I probably know more than all those self proclaimed metal heads in the mall! Dress however you want. Black does not mean a thing, well unless, you're a bit in the chubby side (like yours truly), wearing black is better. hehe. Just because someone dresses like your mother (again, like yours truly), does not mean she has no clue about metal and stuffs. Huhu.

666?! what the hell is that. I've met someone who told me she and couple of her friends name themselves the 666 crew or something. She even showed me her mobile phone theme. I almost laughed, but remembering I am at someone's wedding, and look all proper with my baju kurung, tudung and heels, I just smiled sheepishly, or rather sarcastically. I asked her what the hell that was all about, although deep down inside I feel like reciting the beginning of Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast(You know, the spoken bits)-"Let him who have understanding reckoned the number of the beast, for it is a few number, its number is six hundred and sixty six"-. Haha. That would be hillarious if I started doing that. So I started taunting her with my stupid and childish questions, like what kind of bands does she listens to since she's all 666(satanic and all that). I was hoping she's going to say something like Cradle of Filth or Dimmu Burger (I have nothing against these 2 bands - I like couple of CoF songs, but its just every single self proclaimed black metal kids love them. Haha). She just shrugged me off. I didn't give up and started doing the whole 'OMG! Next time I see you guys I would hide somewhere, for you guys are way too scary what with the 666 and all that'. LOL. It was just funny when she brushed me off, and said that she didn't know a thing, it was not her idea with the 666. Ah! I assumed it was the friend's idea. Still I can't help laughing. In the end I decided to go back to my car, kicked off my heels (I hate wearing heels, but I love buying them!), and went home with Kamelot blaring
on my stereo. Ah! bless~~~

embraced your past kids! come on, you didn't came out of your mother's womb listening to Rob Halford doing his signature falsetto scream. haha. Its okay for metalheads not to wear black. haha. Its okay not to like gory stuffs and vampires and ghouls (I have to excuse myself, for I am a huge vampire fans. Blame it on Christopher Pike for making me a vampire fan, at the tender age of 12). No, 666 does not mean a thing. Listening to Black Metal does not make you the world's toughest kid(Okay, I never get Black Metal. Tried Darkthrone, Burzum, As-Sahar. still nada. but I like this one song from Mortuary Drape). Haha. If you want to use corpse paint, do it. just don't parade your gory self infront of me. I wouldn't mind if you're King Diamond singing Return of The Vampire or Abigail, but you obviously are not. No! Dream Theater is not the world's greatest band. Yes, they're good, but, not the greatest! Yeah yeah, you can talk endlessly about John Petrucci, and I still have no idea what you're talking about. I don't play guitar damned it! Haha. No, DragonForce is not the world's fastest guitarists, trust me, Roadrunner (beep beep), could do it better if he could actually play guitar. haha. Just because Arch Enemy has a female growler does not make them anymore cooler than In Flames. Both are just an okay Melodic Death Metal Band. You would need to listen to At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul and Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery. You still can't get over the fact that Michael Kiske is no more in Helloween, and cursed Andi Deris endlessly. You sucks!(The most childish shit a metalhead could do to retaliate back to haters). haha. You think Power Metal is gay, and you're fucking straight just because you listen to bloody Death Metal. Okay, Manowar may be gay with the loin clothes and super horrible pictures, but come on, I would be devastated to know Tobias Sammet is gay, I mean seriously, the guy is worth lusting over. haha. Unless one of the band member is gay *cough*Judas Priest*cough*! haha. Get your fact right! I'd kill anyone who dare come up to me and say Nirvana is metal and Evanescence is Gothic Metal. A Female fronted band does not make the band automatically gothic you dimwits! Within Temptation is symphonic Metal, Nightwish is Power Metal, Flowing Tears is Gothic Metal. You think melodic music is not metal. You think metal needs to be growling and cookie monster screams. Please allow me to drag iron Maiden, Judas Priest and dio to the torture chamber and castrated Ronnie James Dio's balls! hahaha.

Okay, I really need to stop. Do me a favor kids, stop the stupid rule. Be yourself. Enjoy the music as it is. Wear band shirts you love, support your bands. But please the drop the superior and "I'm doing this because everyone else is" attitude. its killing me.

BTW, I bought Dio's Holy Diver dvd for $11. For his age, RJD surely rocked! I'll talk more of the dvd in my next post, along with Kamelot's and maybe Helloween's once I get hold of it...

Mind Fuck...

It's been a long time since I post any poem... here goes...

Morbid Angel

You know who I am
Soaring through the night sky
Searching for the stars
Promised you the impossible
Leaving you wanting more
Wondering of my sanity

Flying all across the world
Searching for my history
What could have bring us together
Mending our broken heart

You know this is madness
Why are you here?
What is there left for you?
Why am I here?
What is there left for me?

I know who you are
The angel that changed way
Morbid truth revealed
As the stories unfold

Where is the light?
You know who we are
Lucifer be us
Demon be us
No! Angel be us
Condemned us for what we have become
Forgive our sin for what we are

Anak sial

Matanya merah
Semerah darah mengalir ditubuhnya
Tangisannya memecah sunyi

Ah! Bodoh si anak
Lupa akan dirinya sendiri
Biar!
Biar bodohnya memakan dirinya sendiri

Matanya masih lagi merah
Sial si anak!
Masih tidak mahu henti
Pipinya di usap
Peritnya tidak terkata

Tangisannya semakin galak
Di genggam pisau di tangannya
Di Ramas kepalanya
Matanya sakit
Kepalanya sakit
Akalnya sudah lama hilang

Si anak yang hina!
Menjemput maut
Sekujur tubuh kaku di depannya
Sekujur tubuh tua

Kasihan si anak
Airmatanya tidak berguna
Tewas pada nafsunya
Hanya memandang sayu ibunya
Sekujur tubuh tidak bernyawa
Darah mengalir tidak henti

Kesal tidak guna lagi

At The End of Silence

I am the King
- He be my queen
I am the leader
- He be my follower
I am the source of evil
- He be my angel

I have taken lives
He wept, begged for mercy
I shed his tears - of blood
Awakening the hunger within

De javu
I've been here before

He wrote me an elegy
of sorrow and pain
bloodied streets - from his tears
trailing him
like a shadow

No,
I've never been here before
Never!

"Yes you have," a whisper
I kneeled - confused
"I am the king and he is my queen"
I whispered back to the unknown

Lavender
Reminiscent of the darkened field in my dream
Yes! It was all a dream! Just a dream...

He kneeled in front of me
Smiling impishly
Those bloodied eyes staring back at me
"De javu?"
Ah! My queen, my masculine queen
His voice shattered my illusions
after years of silence

I hugged him - my queen
"I've never been here" I whispered
"Yes you have. You were the queen, for I was the king. Once a king, always a king."
I stared at him in horror
His dagger filled my heart
"The end of the silence"

1st December 2007

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Idiosyncrasy

Breaking out
From the circle of inconsistencies
Redeeming myself
Of the sins in the past
Self mutilation
Letting go the pain inside
Sweet torture
These deadly sins haunted me

Loneliness
Emptiness
Restlessness

These scarred soul bleed again
Recalling of the demon within
Tear drops like no tomorrow
Screaming across the seven seas

Pulling harder
On what you believe
Defying more
On what you want
Simplicity was broken
With menacing thoughts

17th February 2007

-----------------------------------------------------------

Remnants of the pain

Tears filled the heart
The darkness tore away my sanity
Invading my thoughts
Of sadness

So I write this elegy
Composing the sorrow

Heartache
Crying the wicked heart out

The pain still inside
Moaning within
Instilled in the tenderness of the mind

This sorrow would never end

You left
And yet I still feel the pain
Bitterness of the heart
